ASUS Big Format Gaming Display teaser turns out to be about AR glasses

ASUS ROG’s recent “Big Format Gaming Display” teaser is now being explained as something other than a giant monitor. A short social post from December said BFGD is coming back , and joked that “a larger desk” will not be needed. Apparently the explanation is now under the post, because another company has replied to this tweet.
A post from XREAL suggests that they are working with ASUS for ROG’s largest “monitor” to date, but delivered through augmented reality smart glasses instead of a large panel, which would also explain the desk-space joke. None of the posts shared specs, connectivity details, or a product name.
BFGD itself is an old NVIDIA label from 2018, used for oversized gaming displays centered around 65-inch 4K panels with high refresh rates and G-SYNC HDR branding. ASUS was one of the early companies tied to that push with ROG-branded big-screen gaming display products.

If this ends up being an XREAL-style “monitor you wear,” the minimum expectation is a tethered setup that takes video over USB-C DisplayPort, similar to how current AR glasses are typically used with PCs and handhelds. XREAL’s recent One and One Pro branding has leaned on micro-OLED displays and a dedicated processing chip for display handling, which makes it a plausible fit for a gaming-focused partner bundle.
ASUS and XREAL have not announced a launch date or pricing. The official showcase will be in few days at CES 2026.
