ASUS shows ROG XREAL R1 AR gaming glasses with 240Hz micro-OLED and a 171-inch virtual screen

ASUS is bringing XREAL-branded AR gaming glasses to CES with the ROG XREAL R1. ASUS says the glasses use a 240Hz micro-OLED display with FHD (1920×1080) resolution, aimed at turning a PC, console, or handheld into a large virtual screen.

ASUS rates the image as a 171-inch virtual screen at a 4-meter distance. The company also lists a 57-degree field of view, and claims it covers 95% of the human focus area. An “Anchor Mode” option adds native 3DoF spatial anchoring, so the image can stay fixed in space instead of moving with the user’s head.

Audio is handled through a Bose-tuned system that ASUS describes as a 3D soundstage. The glasses also use electrochromic lenses that can change transparency based on viewing conditions, with manual transparency control available. ASUS lists the glasses at 91 grams, and shows a USB Type-C connection for the headset link.

ASUS pairs the glasses with a ROG Control Dock, which lists two HDMI 2.0 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 port, letting he swap between sources with a button press. ASUS also says the glasses work with ROG Ally handhelds.
Pricing is not confirmed yet, and ASUS is targeting a launch in the first half of 2026.
