AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT as external GPU
First RDNA4 eGPU it seems.
If it ships as described, this would be a shift from ONEXPLAYER’s earlier ONEXGPU line, which has leaned on RDNA 3 mobile parts like the Radeon RX 7600M XT in the original ONEXGPU and the Radeon RX 7800M in ONEXGPU 2.
ONEXGPU 3 will use the Navi 48 XT-based RX 9070 XT, listing 4096 stream processors , 16GB of GDDR6 on a 256-bit bus , and 64MB Infinity Cache . It also lines up with AMD’s own RX 9070 XT specs, including 16GB and a 304W TBP on the desktop card, which raises immediate questions about how ONEXPLAYER plans to power and cool a portable enclosure.
Since this is the first RDNA 4 eGPU, it also means first eGPU to support AMD’s newer ML features such as FSR “Redstone” on supported hardware, which is part of the appeal of moving this class of GPU into an eGPU form factor.
ONEXPLAYER has not shared details yet on the enclosure, I/O, or platform features. There is no confirmation on a built-in PSU, storage, or whether it will use USB4 v2 and OCuLink. The earlier ONEXGPU already pairs OCuLink and USB4 with an M.2 2280 slot, so similar expansion choices would fit the existing product direction, but this is still guesswork until the company posts full specs.
ONEXPLAYER has only posted this as a teaser so far, with no price and no release date.
