Schenker presents semi-modular laptops concept, potential Framework competitor

SCHENKER shows ELEMENT 16 semi-modular 16-inch laptop concept at CES 2026

Pegatron and Schenker Technologies brought a new 16-inch laptop concept to CES 2026 with Intel on board. The reference system is called “M16P,” and Schenker says the retail version for Europe will ship as the SCHENKER ELEMENT 16.

The pitch is repair-first hardware with a semi-modular layout. A screwless quick-release bottom panel is meant to make access simple, and several parts are designed to be swapped without tearing the whole system down. Schenker lists modular I/O boards for the left and right sides, plus the battery, fans, keyboard, storage, and a RAM module as user-replaceable parts.

Memory is a mix of onboard and socketed. The design includes 16 GB of DDR5-6400 BGA RAM, plus one SO-DIMM slot that can add up to 64 GB more. Schenker says up to 32 GB can run in dual-channel mode, and the onboard RAM can be disabled if needed. Schenker also talks about a longer-term upgrade plan, including a future motherboard swap path to move from Intel Core Ultra Series 3 to later Intel platforms, backed by step-by-step documentation for repairs and upgrades. The chassis also uses recycled metal and plastic in several parts.

On the platform side, Schenker points to Intel Core Ultra Series 3, including the Core Ultra 7 356H with 16 cores and up to 4.7 GHz. The laptop supports Thunderbolt 4, TPM 2.0, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6. Display options include a 16-inch 16:10 panel up to 2560 x 1600, with 100% sRGB coverage, and the design is tested to MIL-STD 810H.

Pegatron is the ODM handling the base design and manufacturing, while Intel supplied the reference design and engineering support. Schenker handles the Europe-side product work, including configuration, QA, compliance, and warranty. Schenker is also doing regional tweaks like an ‘Onyx Black’ finish, a large set of country-specific keyboard layouts, and some layout changes such as bringing back the Right Ctrl key and adjusting Fn mappings. Firmware tuning and performance profile work is also being evaluated ahead of launch.

This is aimed straight at the same “buy once, keep it running” crowd that has been watching Framework, just in a larger 16-inch format and with a different partner chain.

Schenker is targeting a spring 2026 launch in Europe, with sales through its bestware.com shop. Pricing and final specs are not confirmed yet.
