MSI’s new Raider 16 HX RTX 5090 & Core Ultra 200HX gaming laptop features 300W power mode

MSI Raider 16 Max HX adds a 300W power mode and a 240Hz QHD+ OLED option for Core Ultra 200HX

MSI introduced the Raider 16 Max HX B2W at CES 2026 with a clear focus on higher sustained power for Intel Core Ultra 200HX and an optional NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU.

The chassis keeps the Raider look, including the dragon logo, a front light bar, and per key RGB lighting with highlighted WASD caps. MSI also revised the rear section so it sticks out less than the prior Raider 16 HX AI design. The spec sheet lists a 2.6 kg weight.

For the display, MSI is offering a 16-inch 2560 x 1600 OLED panel that runs at 240Hz and carries a DisplayHDR True Black 1000 certification. An IPS configuration is still planned for some SKUs.

MSI’s OverBoost Ultra mode is now rated for up to 300W of combined CPU plus GPU power. MSI also lists up to 200W when the workload is CPU focused, which makes cooling and fan noise a bigger variable than last year. The company pairs that with a triple fan layout and a five exhaust heatsink, and Notebookcheck also mentions a 400W power adapter.

On the spec side, the Raider 16 Max HX supports up to 128GB of DDR5-7200 memory. Notebookcheck reports two M.2 slots with one wired for PCIe 5.0 x4, plus Wi-Fi 7, optional 2.5GbE, and two Thunderbolt 5 ports.

MSI has not shared pricing yet, and it has not confirmed a launch date beyond saying more details will follow.
