Intel Xe3P Nova Lake integrated graphics reportedly 20-25% faster than Panther Lake’s

Intel clawing back iGPU market?

Intel integrated graphics have been through a lot of upgrades. The Xe and Alchemist GPU series were okay, but not revolutionary. Things changed with the arrival of the Xe2 architecture in Lunar Lake, which made the Core 200V series competitive against AMD’s Radeon 800M series (RDNA 3.5).

Intel’s momentum is apparently not slowing down. While rumors suggest AMD has nothing new this year and probably next year, with SoCs stuck on RDNA 3.5 and no move to RDNA 4, Intel Panther Lake graphics based on Xe3 architecture is set to be a major upgrade over Xe2. Intel claims 70%+ higher performance on average compared to AMD.

The successor, said to be the proper Xe3 architecture called Xe3P, is coming with Nova Lake, the Core Ultra 400 series set to launch next year. Nova Lake will span mobile and desktop, and the mobile parts are expected to feature 12x Xe3P cores, matching Panther Lake’s largest iGPU variant.

According to leaker Raichu, which has a strong track record when it comes to Intel hardware, the 12 Xe3P variant is said to be 2025% faster than Xe3. This would put Intel at an advantage in integrated graphics, given that Ryzen 500 “Medusa Point” is apparently sticking to RDNA 3.5.

If we look at AMD and Intel roadmaps, Intel’s column is much busier, and there is more going on. AMD is focusing on RDNA 3 and RDNA 3.5 variants, now led by Strix Halo, which only after a year started to become “gaming” capable after AMD presented it as an AI accelerator for a year. AMD could still have something we do not know about, but given how accurate some leaks have been, that seems unlikely. The good news is that there is competition, and it is AMD’s turn to catch up.
