AMD reportedly preparing Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D CPU with 16 cores and 3D V-Cache

AMD has a new 16-core CPU with 3D V-Cache, but this time for the professional market.

Spotted on an NBD shipping-manifest aggregation site by Olrak is the Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D CPU . As far as we recall, AMD has only announced three PRO variants to date, and none had more than 12 cores.

The Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D is listed as a 170W TDP SKU, matching the 9950X3D spec. The entry also mentions OPN code 100-000001999 and a 16-core configuration. It does not confirm whether the CPU has more than two 3D V-Cache tiles, similar to the rumored 9950X3D2 SKU that AMD has not announced, but has teased.

If we are reading between the lines, this could be part of a broader X3D refresh across the AM5 socket later this year. AMD is expected to add more AM5 SKUs this year, including an X3D refresh, G-series parts with stronger integrated graphics, and possibly more F-series CPUs with iGPU disabled.

The reason is simple. AMD is not expected to launch a Zen 5 successor anytime soon. A teaser around Computex is possible, since AMD often teases next-generation parts around that time.

Right now, there are no details on clocks or L3 cache size. Also, would it make more sense to use the 9965X3D name for a 9950X3D2 instead? This naming is already confusing when Threadripper is included, since there is already a Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9965WX.

If this PRO CPU is real, expect to hear about it in the coming months, perhaps weeks.
