Minisforum BD995M X3D pairs a Ryzen 9 9955HX APU with a desktop X870 chipset
Minisforum brought two self-branded AMD motherboards to CES 2026, but the more unusual one is the micro-ATX BD995M X3D . Tweakers spotted the boards on the show floor in Las Vegas.
BD995M X3D uses a soldered Ryzen 9 9955HX or Ryzen 9 9955HX3D , both with a Radeon 610M iGPU. Â Minisforum also added two DDR5 memory slots, and Tweakers reports that the board includes an X870 chipset to expand I/O beyond what the APU already provides. The other CES board is the mini-ITX BD395i MAX with a Ryzen AI Max+ 395, which Minisforum positions more toward compact builds and iGPU-heavy workloads.

Putting a desktop X870 chipset next to a laptop-class HX APU is not a typical combo. Minisforum has sold boards with soldered HX processors before, but those designs usually lean on the mobile platform I/O without advertising a full desktop chipset. X870 is a desktop AM5 chipset class, and board designs built around X870/X870E are expected to include USB4.
This might actually work, if Minisforum offers support for standard AM5 coolers. Judging from the photo, that should be possible. Mobile platforms typically offer limited DDR5 memory support, so any bottleneck would likely be there. Still, users could simply choose the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D SKU, which is currently the best gaming CPU for laptops, so that shouldn’t be an issue either.
Minisforum expects both boards to launch in the first half of 2026, but pricing has not been shared.
