A man jumped from a first-floor flat of a residential building in Hong Kong after a gas explosion blew out a window, with the frame landing on the road below.

Police said the man plunged to the ground after a blast was heard at a building at 6.40pm on Monday at 43 Pak Tai Street in Kowloon City.

He remained conscious and was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei. A twisted metal window frame was spotted on the road a few metres from the man.

The authorities are responding to the situation.

The seven-storey building at 43 Pak Tai Street was built in 1960 and has three flats on each floor.
