AMD Gorgon Point has a release date
ASUS has reportedly confirmed that AMD Ryzen AI 400 laptops will go on sale starting January 22 , suggesting that this is the official launch date for the new lineup. The date appeared on product listing on Chinese JD platform, seemingly through the official ASUS store.
Ryzen AI 400 is essentially a refresh of the Ryzen AI 300 “Strix Point” series, using the same Zen 5 CPU architecture, Radeon graphics, and XDNA NPU. It’s more of a rebrand than a new generation, aimed at keeping AMD visible in the AI PC segment before its next major update arrives later this year.

Interestignly, the release comes just days before Intel’s new Panther Lake laptops, which are expected the following week. That timing suggests AMD doesn’t want to compete head-on with Intel’s launch day but instead secure shelf space a bit earlier.
Given that Ryzen AI 400 is based on a platform introduced in mid-2024, it will likely benefit from lower costs and wider availability. That may be its strongest advantage for now, while many buyers will probably wait to see what Intel’s next-gen systems bring, AMD’s mature design could make for more affordable AI laptops from day one. Let’s just say, AMD Ryzen 300 series needed weeks and often months before coming in greater number.
