Qualcomm promo video hints at Snapdragon X Series “desktops”, but the footage looks like mini PCs
Qualcomm has posted a new Snapdragon X Series promotional video that repeatedly uses desktop wording, including the line “Snapdragon powers next-generation desktops.” One slide also claims the “flexible PCs bring what legacy desktops don’t,” framing Snapdragon X as a driver for desktop form factors.
A Reddit thread quickly interpreted the messaging as a tease for a next-generation Snapdragon X platform landing in desktops. But the video may not be about desktop at all.

One of the devices shown is a small, round “puck” system with a Snapdragon logo on top. This is the same prototype that was shown months ago as a prototype fanless Mini-PC.

So what happened here is that Qualcomm is, yet again, misinterpreting what a desktop system is. Unfortunately, large CPU vendors are often run by corporate executives with little knowledge of the market itself. Intel made the same mistake once by claiming Meteor Lake was coming to desktops, only to clarify later that it meant mini PCs. Technically, whatever sits on a desk is a desktop, but we all know that wording is confusing and misleading.
I’m afraid there is no Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 desktop coming. It would require a major leap in PCIe support, and that is something we have not heard about yet. If it were simple, NVIDIA would have done it ages ago. The bottleneck is likely not hardware, but software, and Windows on Arm specifically. Unless that changes, there is no Snapdragon X2 on desktop.
