GIGABYTE is now testing AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 dual 3D V-Cache CPU on X870E Tachyon overclocking board

Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 unannounced, but present

A new Geekbench entry lists the unannounced AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 running on a GIGABYTE X870 AORUS Tachyon ICE motherboard. AMD did not announce the 9950X3D2 at CES 2026, which caught many off guard. After the show, AMD told ComputerBase to stay tuned, so the part may still be planned for a later update.

The listing reports a 16-core, 32-thread CPU with a 4.30 GHz base clock and a 5.65 GHz reported peak frequency. Geekbench identifies 96 MB x2 L3 cache, which lines up with the idea of a dual 3D V-Cache configuration. Memory is listed as 48 GB DDR5 at 7996 MT/s , paired with an overclocking-focused board rather than a mainstream platform.

AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 9000X3D update

  • Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 200W, 16C/32T, 192MB L3 cache, 5.6 GHz / 4.3 GHz Dual 3D-VCache
  • Ryzen 7 9850X3D 120W, 8C/16T, 96MB L3 cache, 5.6 GHz / 4.7 GHz

Despite the board choice, the CPU does not look manually overclocked. The result stays within the expected boost range and does not go past the 5.6 GHz ceiling that has been associated with this alleged “X3D2” variant, suggesting stock or near-stock behavior rather than an all-core OC.

The new result is also higher than the earlier leak:

  • Ryzen 9 9950X3D2: 3553 single-core, 24340 multi-core 🆕
  • Ryzen 9 9950X3D2: 3456 single-core, 21062 multi-core (old result)
  • Ryzen 9 9950X3D: 3397 single-core, 22161 multi-core

The jump in multi-core performance may be tied to the platform change, higher memory speed, and tuning differences between test systems. Geekbench runs can also vary based on BIOS, background load, and power settings, so one entry should not be treated as final performance.

As far as we know, AMD has not started a public review program for this CPU, so the leak must have originated at Gigabyte labs.
