At least five Reddit posts from the past two weeks describe AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D systems that stop posting on ASUS AM5 boards, with owners reporting Q-Code 00 as the common endpoint. The board list spans B850 and multiple X870E models, so the reports are not tied to one SKU line.
Across these cases, the stories look similar after the failure hits. A system runs normally, then a reboot, sleep wake, or a normal desktop moment ends in a black screen and a board stuck at 00, sometimes alongside a DRAM status light. Owners describe the usual troubleshooting loop: CMOS clear, RAM swaps, PSU swaps, reseating, and USB BIOS flash attempts, with no change in behavior.

Earlier waves of 9800X3D failure talk centered on ASRock. The company later acknowledged that their BIOS applies incorrect settings and continues to release new BIOSes and replace broken units. The Reddit megathread now lists 157 cases involving the 9800X3D CPU alone . ASRock has never recalled their motherboards, and they continue to launch new models, the latest being from this week .
