Just a day after a popular YouTube channel suggested a radical design overhaul for Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 lineup , two leakers have come forward to forcefully debunk the purported leak, going on to hint at a much more subtle design change.

First, the Weibo-based tipster Instant Digital has termed reports of a punch-hole selfie camera on the Apple iPhone 18 "complete misinformation." The Google-translated version of the Weibo post notes:

"The claim that the iPhone 18 Pro has a punch-hole front-facing camera on the left side is a complete misinformation.

According to my investigation, it started when an English-language media outlet tweeted this. Before they mentioned the punch-hole, I, along with media outlets in China and South Korea, had already stated that the iPhone 18 Pro would have an under-display infrared sensor on the left side. I suspect this English author mistranslated, thinking it was a camera. But unfortunately, English has a wider global reach."

Also, Schrödinger has noted on X that only the flood illuminator and Infrared camera will move to the top-left corner and beneath the display on the iPhone 18, while the Dot Projector (Face ID) and the selfie camera will remain within the Dynamic Island in the top-center part of the display:

These claims directly contradict those made by the Front Page Tech , The Information's Wayne Ma , and Weibo-based Smart Pikachu in recent weeks, suggesting that the iPhone lineup would get a punch-hole selfie camera in the top-left corner of the display. In fact, The Information had gone a step further by suggesting that Apple would abandon the Dynamic Island entirely for visual aesthetics based on a lone punch-hole cutout.
