Lenovo will open Magic Bay to third-party accessories in 2026, ThinkBook 14+ and 16+ confirmed

Lenovo Magic Bay now open to 3rd party companies

Lenovo has confirmed that the 2026 ThinkBook 14+ and ThinkBook 16+ will support the Magic Bay accessory system. A Lenovo product manager shared the update on Weibo, adding that Magic Bay will also support third-party accessories starting in 2026.

Magic Bay is a magnetic attachment area on the laptop lid. Accessories snap into place and connect through pogo pins on the A-side of the laptop.

That pogo-pin connector is what makes the add-ons work without a separate cable. The same Weibo post references existing Magic Bay accessories, including LTE internet modules and a small “HUD” style display module.

Until now, Magic Bay support was limited to a smaller set of higher-end ThinkBook models. With the 2026 ThinkBook 14+ and 16+, Lenovo is moving the feature into a wider product line.

The key change is the move to third-party support. Lenovo says external accessory makers will be able to design Magic Bay devices, which suggests Lenovo plans to share the mechanical and electrical interface details needed to build compatible modules. Lenovo has also teased that more ThinkBook models will gain Magic Bay support in 2026.
