Ubisoft is canceling the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake and 5 other games

Ubisoft says it is doing a “major” reset of the company’s structure and release roadmap. The plan includes project cancellations, delays, studio closures, and a new internal operating model.
In its January 21, 2026 press release, Ubisoft confirms it has discontinued six games in development. Ubisoft names Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake and also says the cuts include four unannounced titles, described as three new IPs plus a mobile title. Ubisoft does not name the remaining cancelled project.
Ubisoft also says seven other games are getting more development time. Ubisoft confirms that one unannounced FY26 title has slipped to FY27.
Ubisoft has discontinued 6 games that do not meet the new enhanced quality as well as more selective portfolio prioritization criteria at Group level. These include Prince of Persia The Sands of Time remake as well as 4 unannounced titles, including 3 new IP’s, and a mobile title.
In parallel, the Group will allocate additional development time to 7 games in order to ensure enhanced quality benchmarks are fully met and maximize long-term value creation. This includes the unannounced title initially planned for FY26, that has been delayed to FY27.

The broader rework is tied to a new structure built around five “Creative Houses”, with operations starting in early April 2026. Ubisoft lists examples of brands assigned to each group, including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Rainbow Six, The Division, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, Anno, Rayman, and Prince of Persia.
On the cost side, Ubisoft says the reset includes more restructuring and a smaller studio footprint. Ubisoft confirms the closure of the Halifax mobile studio and the Stockholm studio, and mentions restructuring activity at several other locations.
