First rumors on AMD’s new/old Halo
The Strix becomes Halo.

VideoCardz has learned that AMD is working on a product called “Gorgon Halo.” This refresh is said to follow the same playbook as AMD’s “Gorgon Point” mobile update. As the name suggests, it would be an update to the Halo family, and a refresh of “Strix Halo” . While the core design is expected to remain unchanged, AMD is said to be raising CPU and iGPU clocks.
AMD already used that approach at CES 2026 with Ryzen AI 400, which AMD calls “Gorgon Point”. AMD Ryzen AI 400 keeps the Zen 5 and Zen 5c mix, RDNA 3.5 graphics, and XDNA 2 NPU, while lifting frequencies and memory support. The series finally unlock 3 GHz clocks on RDNA3.5 iGPUs.
The iGPU boost clocks now reach 3.1 GHz on the top Ryzen AI 9 HX 475 and HX 470 parts (Radeon 890M, 16 CUs). That is a step up from Strix Point’s earlier cap (2.9 GHz), and it helps explain why “higher clocks” is the main theme around Gorgon Halo rumors, as well.
AMD has just updated Strix Halo
AMD used CES 2026 to add two more Ryzen AI Max+ models ( 392 and 388 ) that keep the “full” 40 CU Radeon 8060S iGPU, just paired with fewer CPU cores. AMD and partners have been planning to use those chips for more products in 2026, and early coverage has already started showing up in benchmarks and OEM designs.
It looks like by the end of his year, AMD will stop introducing new SKUs to the Strix Halo family, in the upcoming months, Gorgon Point will take its place. Based on what we have heard, AMD is already distributing engineering samples.
