Corsair says sorry
Corsair has issued an apology after a pricing and inventory problem on its US webstore led to a wave of canceled orders.

Corsair has again released a statement on the DDR5 memory sale from January 1. As we reported , customers who scored a great deal on otherwise expensive DDR5 memory kits were later told by Corsair that the price was an error. The company said the issue was a store error and offered coupon codes to affected customers. Corsair also explained that the specific memory kit was not in stock.
Corsair has now explained that the reason it canceled these orders was because it received “thousands of orders for the item.” By January 2, the listing was corrected, and customers were notified that their orders would be canceled and refunded. Corsair says the cancellations were handled under its Terms of Sale, which allow it to cancel orders affected by listing or pricing errors. Still, enthusiasts do not expect a large company to hide behind its terms of sale.

But Corsair did not stop there. The company issued several often conflicting statements, and the situation was confusing, to say the least. The biggest issue was that the coupon codes customers received had the wrong expiration date. Corsair says a corrected offer was sent a few hours later, including a 40% coupon for any in-stock memory kit, plus an extra DRAM-focused coupon from customer service.
Corsair has now apologized for this mess. “The way we communicated and managed this issue does not meet our standards,” Corsair said, adding that the situation should have been handled with a single message and the correct code. The company says it has already made process changes to prevent a repeat.
Here’s a full statement:
Statement Regarding Recent Pricing and Inventory Issues
Early on January 1st, 2026, we had a pricing and inventory issue on our US website that has received a large amount of public notice.
In this specific situation, our US website showed incorrect stock availability and pricing for a specific memory kit that we no longer manufacture. Within hours, we received thousands of orders for this out-of-stock item. By January 2nd, the issue on the website was corrected and we began notifying customers that their orders would be canceled and a coupon code was included.
Unfortunately, the email template used incorrectly listed the expiration date for the included 15% off coupon. Within a few hours of that email on January 2nd, a corrected coupon for 40% off any in-stock memory kit was sent to those same customers as a correction.
The way we communicated and managed this issue does not meet our standards, and we regret confusing our customers with multiple posts and emails. This should have been a single communication, one time, with the correct discount code. For that, we apologize.
We made a mistake, and while we strive to minimize them, the next best thing we can do is resolve them as quickly and clearly as possible. We have made several changes to our process that will address these issues in the future, and we appreciate your patience.
We are and have always been focused and committed to the core customers – gamers, creators, performance users, and enthusiasts. We make parts for people who want to build fast, reliable computers. That has not changed.
