Intel Arc B390 beats AMD’s mainstream iGPUs and nears RTX 4050-level performance in some tests

Intel Arc B390 iGPU puts pressure on AMD in early Panther Lake benchmarks

Early benchmarks from independent reviews show Intel’s Arc B390 integrated GPU delivering a clear jump in gaming performance versus prior Intel iGPUs and AMD’s Radeon 890M-class iGPU options, while operating in similar power ranges.

ComputerBase tested the Core Ultra X9 388H with Arc B390 and LPDDR5X-9600 memory. In the site’s Full-HD gaming averages, Arc B390 leads Radeon 890M by wide margins at both around 25 W and higher power levels. ComputerBase also reports little change when running on battery compared to AC power in its gaming-focused checks. Overall, the B390 is 63% faster at 24/25W power compared to Radeon 890M.

Notebookcheck places Arc B390 close to lower-power configurations of the GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU in several tests, depending on the title and power limit. Arc B390 sits well ahead of Arc 140T and Arc 140V, and also outpaces Radeon 890M. AMD’s Strix Halo iGPUs remain faster, but operate at much higher power.

The Phawx focuses on handheld-style power limits and shows Arc B390 performance from 10 W up to 35 W. At matched power, Arc B390 leads Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 iGPU results in several games, including lows, and scales predictably once power moves above 20 W.

What we should note is that these comparisons only cover the top iGPU SKU so far. Panther Lake is not a one-GPU family. Below Arc B390, there is also Arc B370, plus Intel Graphics variants with 4 or 2 Xe3 cores, which should land far lower in gaming.

This is also likely not the end of Intel’s iGPU ramp. Xe3 in Panther Lake looks like the start of the generation. Roadmaps and leaks point to Xe3P arriving next year alongside Nova Lake, and it is often described as the full Xe3 implementation.

On the AMD side, current roadmaps suggest mainstream mobile parts stay on RDNA 3.5 for now. RDNA5 iGPU updates appear reserved for higher-end APUs, which keeps most of the volume stack on the older graphics path.
