If you tried using TikTok over the weekend, or even today, the app may have been broken in several ways.

As reported by , some users couldn’t see new videos in TikTok, or upload videos themselves, among other issues. In some cases, US users’ algorithm even appeared to have reset.

Now we have an official explanation from TikTok’s new US ownership.

It was from the official ‘TikTok USDS Joint Venture’ account.

Most of the US has been impacted by severe winter weather in the last few days. And while the statement doesn’t officially blame weather for the outage, it’s highly likely that’s what’s responsible.

It’s unfortunate timing since the transfer to US ownership just happened. But hopefully this incident will be resolved quickly, and lead the TikTok USDS Joint Venture to double down on service stability moving forward.
