NVIDIA releases FrameView 1.7

FrameView is a Windows performance monitoring tool from NVIDIA. The app tracks frame rates, frame times, power, and performance-per-watt, and can also log PC Latency for supported setups. It used to be a popular tool among GPU reviewers, now perhaps not the first choice. However, NVIDIA keeps releasing new versions and the recent update is quite big.
FrameView is used to provide quick overlay and clean CSV logs for comparisons across settings or drivers. Hardware reviewers also use FrameView logs for repeatable runs, and the tool is designed to work across a wide range of GPUs and graphics APIs.
The main change in version 1.7 is a customizable overlay. FrameView now offers presets for which metrics show up on screen, plus options for font size, a black background for readability, and mode tags such as “Full Screen Status”, “Tearing”, and “Vsync”. Version 1.7 also targets games that run at ultra-high frame rates. NVIDIA says FPS calculation is now more accurate in cases where frame rates exceed 800 FPS.

On the fixes side, FrameView 1.7 addresses a memory leak seen during long sessions with NVIDIA Reflex-enabled games. NVIDIA also lists a fix for rare misreporting tied to VSync, GSync, and DLSS Frame Generation, plus a change that saves CSV logs correctly if a game closes mid-benchmark.
The driver includes several game-specific fixes, including a crash fix for The Finals, anti-cheat support for Arc Raiders so overlays work, and updates to PC Latency behavior in Starfield and Black Myth Wukong, while Battlefield 6 is also listed as showing the overlay correctly. Known issues include Counter-Strike 2 problems in “Exclusive Full Screen” when a UAC pop-up appears, a case where FrameView can hang after being closed and reopened while a game is running, and a note that GPU stats are not supported when using an external GPU.
FrameView 1.7 Release Notes
- Customizable Overlay:
- FrameView has new options for adapting the overlay to your liking! For the first time, FrameView will let you customize which metrics are reported in the overlay by selecting between various presets. You can even adjust font size, add a black background to the overlay to improve readability, and toggle on and off mode tags like “Full Screen Status”, “Tearing”, and “Vsync”.
- High Frame Rate Support
- Improved accuracy with FPS calculation in situations where games have very high Frame Rates (800+ FPS)
- Bug Fixes
- Fixed a memory leak during extended monitoring sessions with NVIDIA Reflex-enabled games
- Fixed a bug related to rare circumstances where VSync, GSync and DLSS Frame Generation could misreport data
- CSV files are now properly saved even if a game closes while FrameView is still recording a benchmark
- Improved reliability of “exclude list”
- General improvements to stability and compatibility
- Game-Specific Bug Fixes
- The Finals: Fixed a crash when closing FrameView while the game is running
- Arc Raiders: Added support for this title’s anti-cheat, enabling overlays to properly show up
- Starfield: Improved consistency and accuracy of PCL
- Black Myth Wukong: Fixed an issue where Black Myth Wukong could occasionally misreport latency with DLSS Frame Generation
- Battlefield 6: FrameView overlay now properly appears
- Known Issues
- When playing Counter-strike 2 in “Exclusive Full Screen” mode and running FrameView, the Windows User Account Control window (UAC) pop-up can cause the game to minimize and stop functioning
- While running Counter-strike 2, if you close FrameView and relaunch it, FrameView can become unresponsive until Counter-strike 2 is shut down
- FrameView currently does not support GPU stats when running an external GPU
