Gigabyte launches X870E motherboard with tongue-twisting name

GIGABYTE has announced retail availability for the X870E AORUS XTREME X3D AI TOP, an AM5 flagship board built around the AMD X870E chipset and aimed at Ryzen X3D systems.

The main feature callout is “X3D Turbo Mode 2.0.” GIGABYTE describes it as a one-click mode that uses an on-board AI model and hardware circuits to adjust CPU parameters in real time. The company claims performance gains of up to 25% in select gaming and multitasking scenarios, with results varying by title and workload.

Memory is another focus. GIGABYTE markets “D5 Bionic Corsa” as a software, hardware, and firmware stack for DDR5 tuning, and lists DDR5 overclocking support up to 9000+ MT/s (subject to the QVL and kit capability).

On the hardware side, the board includes a 24+2+2 phase VRM design (110A SPS for VCORE/SOC is listed), five M.2 slots (two PCIe 5.0 plus three PCIe 4.0), and multiple full-length PCIe slots including PCIe 5.0 lanes for GPUs. Networking and I/O highlights listed by GIGABYTE include dual 10GbE, Wi-Fi 7, and dual USB4 ports.

Cooling is tied to several branded parts, with published deltas for specific zones. GIGABYTE lists CPU Thermal Matrix (up to 8.5°C reduction for VRM), DDR Wind Blade XTREME (up to 9°C lower for memory modules), and Gen5 M.2 cooling claims (up to 22°C lower SSD temperature under load).

DIY and usability items include PCIe EZ-Latch Plus Duo for tool-less GPU removal on two slots, M.2 EZ-Latch mechanisms for screwless SSD and heatsink handling, DriverBIOS for Wi-Fi connectivity without manual driver installs, and a combined Wi-Fi antenna adapter design. A 5-inch “LCD Edge View” display is also part of the feature set.

The motherboard is now on sale on Newegg for an eye-dropping $1099:
