NVIDIA releases 582.28 security driver for Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta GPUs on the 580 branch
NVIDIA has published GeForce Security Update Driver 582.28 for older GeForce GPUs based on Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta. These GPUs no longer receive Game Ready Drivers, so this release is focused on security updates tied to NVIDIA’s January 2026 security bulletin.
NVIDIA previously said newer driver branches will handle current products with the usual Game Ready cadence. For Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta, the 580 branch is now the path for periodic security-only updates.

No “fixed issues,” but gaming problems are still listed
The release notes list no fixed issues for both “Fixed Gaming Bugs” and “Fixed General Bugs.” This driver is positioned as a security update, not a bug-fix release.
NVIDIA still lists game-related known issues. These entries can still affect affected systems until a later security drop includes a fix:
- Counter-Strike 2: Text may appear slightly distorted when in-game resolution is lower than the native resolution of the display [5278913]
- Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth: Light flickering after driver update on some system configurations [5432356]

If you have any of these graphics cards and still use them, it would make a lot of sense to update to this driver. To be honest, I’m not entirely sure if you will see a popup in the NVIDIA App for this driver, should you be using any of the cards listed below.
