AYANEO Pocket Play revealed as gaming phone with slide-out controls, 6.8-inch 165Hz OLED, and Dimensity 9300

AYANEO Pocket Play is the SONY Xperia series spiritual successor

AYANEO has shared more details about the Pocket Play, a gaming phone with a side-slide mechanism that hides a full controller under the screen. The company says the phone will use a 6.8-inch OLED panel (2400 × 1080) with a 165Hz refresh rate.

The slide-out section includes a D-pad, ABXY buttons, and shoulder triggers. The layout also uses dual touchpads instead of physical analog sticks, which keeps the controller flat enough to sit behind the display when closed.

For the SoC, AYANEO confirmed MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300. MediaTek lists a 4× Cortex-X4 + 4× Cortex-A720 CPU setup for the chip.  AYANEO has not published a full spec sheet yet. Items like RAM and storage options, battery capacity, cooling design, and camera specs are still unconfirmed.

Renders shared so far show black and white versions, dual rear cameras, and USB-C. The images also suggest a bezel selfie camera, which avoids a hole-punch cutout in the display area.

AYANEO is collecting followers ahead of a Kickstarter launch, but the campaign date and pricing have not been announced.
