ASUS ROG Xbox Ally discount returns nearly two months later
ASUS’ ROG Xbox Ally is a Windows handheld built around Xbox PC app. The device combines a 7-inch 1920×1080 IPS touchscreen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, plus Xbox-style grips and controls. It is still a full Windows system if you disable the Xbox Full Screen Experience.
The standard model runs on AMD’s Ryzen Z2 A, a 4-core, 8-thread Zen 2 APU with 8 RDNA 2 compute units and LPDDR5-6400 support. It is the same APU that goes into Steam Deck, but under a different name. ASUS targets a 6–20 W range. The rest of the spec list includes 16 GB LPDDR5 memory, a user-replaceable 512 GB PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 SSD, and a 60 Wh battery.
Nearly two months after the last discount run, the deal has returned in the US, dropping the base model to $489.99 at Amazon.

The ROG Xbox Ally X targets a higher tier with Ryzen Z2 Extreme (8C/16T Zen 5 and 16 RDNA 3.5 CUs). ASUS pairs the upgrade with 24 GB RAM, a 1 TB SSD, and an 80 Wh battery, with a $999.99 MSRP.
There are price cuts on the higher-end model yet.
