Nintendo Switch 2 hits 17.37 million units through December 2025

Nintendo Switch 2 sales close to Switch’s first holiday pace

Nintendo has published updated sales charts for the quarter ending December 31, 2025. The company reports 7.01 million Switch 2 hardware units in the October to December quarter. Total Switch 2 hardware sell-in reaches 17.37 million units for the April to December period.

That holiday-quarter figure is slightly below the original Switch’s first holiday quarter. The Verge reported that Switch moved 7.23 million units in October to December 2017, which, if my math is right, puts Switch 2 about 220K units behind.

Switch 2’s cumulative 17.37 million units as of December 31, 2025 is also above the original Switch’s 14.86 million units as of December 31, 2017. Nintendo is keeping a full-year forecast of 19.0 million Switch 2 hardware units for the fiscal year ending March 2026.

Switch 2 launched on June 5, 2025, so the December quarter reflects the system’s first holiday season on the market. Typically the most profitable for gaming industry.
