ASUS ROG Strix XG27UCG Gen2 listed with 4K 162 Hz and 1080p 485 Hz dual mode

ASUS has published the full product page for the ROG Strix XG27UCG Gen2, also labeled as XG27UCGR, which puts the monitor closer to retail. The headline feature stays the same as the first model: dual mode for frequency and resolution, with one button to switch between two config.
This monitor first showed up in ASUS’ CES 2026 lineup alongside other new display announcements. CES coverage on ASUS’ own site also called out the ROG Strix XG27JCG (5K 180 Hz or 1440p 330 Hz dual mode) and a set of RGB Stripe OLED models like the ROG Swift OLED PG27UCWM.
For the GX27UCG Gen2, early CES information used slightly different numbers than what ASUS lists today. ASUS originally described the monitor as offering “ two options: 4K 160Hz or FHD 480Hz,” and pitched it as a 3x jump in “visible frames” when switching to the high-refresh mode. The current product page and spec sheet list 4K at up to 162 Hz and 1080p at up to 485 Hz , with Frame Rate Boost tied to a hotkey.

The panel is a 27-inch Fast IPS at 3840 x 2160 with an anti-glare coating. ASUS rates it at 400 nits typical brightness and 600 nits peak in HDR, plus a 1300:1 contrast ratio. HDR support is listed as HDR10, and the monitor carries VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification.
Motion specs are listed as 1 ms GTG and 0.3 ms minimum, and ASUS includes ELMB Sync so backlight strobing can run alongside VRR. The spec sheet confirms the dual refresh ranges in the signal table, with FHD mode listed up to 485 Hz over HDMI and also over USB-C and DisplayPort.
On VRR branding, the product page calls the monitor “G-SYNC Compatible” and also mentions FreeSync compatibility, while the earlier CES article referenced FreeSync Premium Pro.

Image processing gets a dedicated marketing block this time. ASUS pushes “Smart Pixel” as a 4K upscaling feature meant to keep 1080p mode looking cleaner when chasing high FPS.
