Report says NVIDIA will reduce mainland China GPU supply by about 30% in this quarter

Board Channels rumors may not always be fully accurate, but its recent posts about RTX 50 supply and prioritization were spot on. While NVIDIA denied limiting supply of specific models and said all RTX 50 SKUs will continue to ship, the SKUs mentioned in these rumors are becoming more expensive to buy.
Around December, a rumor on the same forum claimed NVIDIA would limit RTX 50 GPU supply by 30% to 40%. A new post now says overall GPU supply to the mainland China market will be reduced by around 30% versus a “regular quarter. ” The post attributes the claim to information from upstream NVIDIA and add-in card partners.
The same post recommends that add-in card brands and nationwide distributors manage inventory carefully in Q1 to avoid deep discounting. It also calls for coordinated pricing discipline to reduce the risk of a price war if supply tightens. That implies prices could rise if supply remains constrained.

The key detail is that this information focuses on a China-only supply strategy. It does not describe allocations for North America, Europe, or other regions. However, the Chinese market often shows early signals because many graphics card assembly lines are located there.
When RTX 5070 Ti “EOL” rumors appeared last month, NVIDIA quickly pushed back . As we noted at the time, most RTX 50-series cards are now selling above MSRP unless buyers have access to the Verified Priority Access program, which has been difficult to use recently.
Demand for GeForce RTX GPUs is strong, and memory supply is constrained. We continue to ship all GeForce SKUs and are working closely with our suppliers to maximize memory availability.
– NVIDIA
In this statement, NVIDIA also confirmed the GPU market is affected by memory constraints, but they did not explain the impact. NVIDIA has not officially confirmed price hikes, and based on past releases, once an MSRP is announced, GPU vendors rarely announce formal price increases. Prices will once again be dictated by supply and demand.
