OLED burn-in from Overwatch, not Davinci Resolve
Optimum shows how his LG monitor with built-in OLED protection looks after 2 years of extensive, daily use.

A long-term usage report from Optimum, known for high quality video reviews, shows limited OLED burn-in after more than 3,000 hours of daily use on a modern LG OLED monitor. The test reflects real-world workloads rather than artificial stress patterns, with consistent use over nearly two years.
The reviewer used the monitor at high brightness levels, typically between 80 and 100 percent, focusing on three applications: Fusion 360, DaVinci Resolve, and Overwatch 2 (well, now called Overwatch ). All three rely on static UI elements, which are widely considered the main risk factor for OLED burn-in. The display is a 32-inch dual-mode OLED from LG, with all built-in OLED protection features left enabled at default settings.

After 3,000 hours, panel inspection using uniform gray and color test screens revealed faint burn-in in a limited number of areas. The most visible artifact appears in the lower-left corner and aligns with the Overwatch 2 health bar UI. A second faint pattern, visible only on a blue background, matches the game’s player card frame.
Such panel degradation needs a very close inspection, and it is not seen under daily use. In fact, he had to edit the photos to make the damage more visible to the human eye.

The reviewer estimates around 400 hours of Overwatch 2 playtime over the two-year period, averaging about 30 minutes per day. Higher daily exposure to a single game could result in stronger burn-in, particularly from static HUD elements.
Optimum shares a few tips to reduce burn-in risk, such as using dark mode in apps and hiding the taskbar. I cannot use a hidden taskbar on my Alienware OLED because it hurts productivity, but it may work if you mainly use three apps. I am one year in, so I may publish a similar update later for comparison. So far I can’t see anything, and I use this monitor a lot.
