MSI Taiwan lists RTX 5090 Lightning Z at NT$165,000 in 10-winner lottery

MSI Taiwan has opened a 24-hour lottery for the GeForce RTX 5090 32G LIGHTNING Z. The value is NT$165,000 with tax included, which is about $5200 USD . Only 10 winners will get a purchase link. The entry window runs from February 9 at 10:00 to February 10 at 10:00, Taiwan time. MSI says it will post the winner list on February 11. Purchase links will be sent by SMS and email on February 12.
LIGHTNING Z is MSI’s flagship Lightning-series RTX 5090. It uses a custom PCB and a factory liquid-cooling setup with a full-cover cold plate. MSI also says the total production is limited to 1,300 units worldwide, with individual serial numbers.
MSI’s public spec list includes 32GB of GDDR7 and two 16-pin power connectors. The company recommends a 1500W or higher PSU. Display outputs are three DisplayPort 2.1b ports and one HDMI 2.1b port. The card is also available as a special OC version for extreme overclocking, which enables up to 2500W TDO, but the public version tops out at a 1000W “EXtreme” profile.

With a 1,300-unit run and only 10 Taiwan lottery slots, access is tightly limited. MSI has not published any breakdown for retail sales versus promo or partner allocation. If I were to guess, many of these cards cards will go to reviewers and influencers.

For comparison, ASUS also sells a high-end RTX 5090 variant under the ROG Matrix branding with a listed “up to 800W” power approach. This model has a limited production run and a US$3,999 launch price for that model. When the MATRIX was announced, that price seemed like a joke, but it is currently in normal RTX 5090 price territory, but unfortunately most of these ASUS cards are already sold out.
