Apple’s next AirPods Pro will come with cameras, says leaker

Apple is rumored to have new AirPods Pro coming this year, and a leaker just corroborated the main new feature we’ve been expecting: built-in cameras.

AirPods Pro 3 just launched last fall, and historically Apple has had three-year gaps between new models.

But rumors indicate this year we’ll see new AirPods Pro debut again—except they won’t be all-new.

Instead, this year’s AirPods Pro are expected to be the same as the current AirPods Pro 3 but with one main upgrade: infrared cameras.

Over the weekend, leaker Kosutami shared the latest corroboration :

The mention of these new AirPods being the same price as the current model seems especially unlikely. And Kosutami doesn’t have a track record of insider knowledge on product pricing.

More likely, Apple will follow the pattern of its current AirPods 4 offerings, with two models differentiated by one main feature.

In this case, AirPods Pro 3 are likely to remain $249, while the new model with cameras, per previous reporting , could be close to $299.

The addition of IR cameras should enable visual intelligence-style AI capabilities. Which may explain why Tim Cook keeps touting visual intelligence as a standout AI feature for users.

There’s no word currently on release timing. Apple typically launches new AirPods in the fall at the iPhone event, but there’s always a chance this new model could arrive sooner.
