Corsair says it has started rolling out new retail packaging for Vengeance DDR5 memory kits, aiming to make tampering and fraudulent returns easier to spot. The company links the change to rising DRAM prices and a higher need to protect product authenticity.

The update applies to Vengeance DDR5 2-module kits, including non-RGB, RGB, and RGB RS models. Packaging is shifting from traditional cardboard boxes to a sealed plastic clamshell made from recycled plastic, and Corsair says the new material also provides ESD protection during transport.

Since early January, we have been introducing new packaging across all the VENGEANCE DDR5 (non-RGB, RGB and RGB RS) SKUs in a 2-module configuration. The packaging of these series are transitioning from traditional cardboard boxes to a sealed plastic clamshell made from recycled plastic (the new material provides ESD protection as well.)

Corsair says the clamshell design lets buyers see the modules before opening the package, so it is easier to confirm what is inside. The package also uses a tamper-evident “belly label” that tears when opened, making resealing attempts visible.

The company specifically calls out return fraud cases involving non-genuine modules, and cases where Corsair Light Enhancement Kits are passed off as real RAM . Corsair positions the new packaging as a way to protect both customers and retailers from those scenarios.

Corsair says some DRAM SKUs will continue using paper boxes for now, but will receive updated security labeling as the rollout expands. During the transition, buyers may see a mix of old and new packaging depending on the SKU and region.
