RPCS3 says it is “closer than ever” to having all PlayStation 3 games not only boot, but reach “Ingame” status

RPCS3 says PS3 “Intro” list drops to 62 games after SingStar reclassification

The RPCS3 team said it moved all SingStar titles out of the “Intro” category, reducing the number of “Intro” games from 101 to 62. It also said 46 of those 62 remaining “Intro” titles are PlayStation Move games.

These labels come from RPCS3’s public compatibility tracker. “Playable” means a game can be completed with playable performance and without game-breaking issues. “Ingame” means the game runs but may have serious glitches, insufficient performance, or other blockers that prevent finishing it. “Intro” means the game shows image output but does not make it past menus or early screens.

Worth noting that the compatibility page notes that online-only titles shown under Intro, Loadable, and Nothing are listed, but they are not included in the category totals. The totals also change depending on whether you’re viewing PS3 games versus PS3 apps, and the database is updated over time.

What the statuses mean in plain terms:

  • Playable : you can finish the game on RPCS3 without game-stopping issues.
  • Ingame : the game runs, but it may crash later, have major glitches, or run too slowly to complete reliably.
  • Intro : the game boots and displays graphics, but it gets stuck at the intro or menus, or fails right after loading.
  • Loadable : the emulator shows a black screen while reporting a framerate in the window title.
  • Nothing : the title fails to initialize properly and does not load.

On the “Loadable” side, RPCS3’s compatibility filter currently shows two non online-only games still counted as Loadable: Virtua Fighter 5 Trial and Winter Sports 2010. The same page also lists several online-only titles in Loadable (excluded from the official counts), including Angel Love Online, Angel Senki, Dragon’s Dogma Online, Everyday Together, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (plus Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Version), Shin Sangoku Musou Online Z, and Uncharted Waters Online.

And more information for those interested:

The Intro compatibility status includes games that can boot and display image output but cannot be played, either because they don't get past the intro/menu screens or because they crash immediately after loading.

Taken together, the update is about shrinking the tail of titles that still boot but cannot be played. RPCS3’s post is specifically about moving games out of “Intro” and toward “Ingame,” which is the threshold where a title loads into gameplay, even if it still needs fixes or performance work to reach “Playable.”
