'Is-a' versus 'is-a-descendant-of'
One of the things that my issue with the Python re module not exposingits types has firmly mashed my nose into is thedifference between 'is-a-descendant-of' and 'is-a' in object-orientedlanguages. It's conventional to think of them as more or less the samething, even in a loose duck typed language like Python; it just seemsto make sense for all compiled regular expressions to descend from asingle base class, just as it theoretically makes sense for both
Quick things about Kampfer 07
(Warning: mild spoilers.)
From Author :
Why did Kaede (Sakura) lose consciousness?
I concur that we don't have enough information. However, there seems tobe a striking pattern that Kaede drops out of the action just when hernose would otherwise be rubbed in the existence of Kampfers, and I doubtthat this is a coincidence.
I continue to think that Akane was not shooting seriously for whateverreason. Otherwise, she is an embarrassingly bad shot; has she hitanything meaningful?

A limitation of Python types from C extension modules
It's recently struck me that there is an important difference betweentypes (and classes) created in a Python module and types/classes thatcome from a C-level extension module.
Suppose that duck typing is not enough and soyou really want to make a class that inherits from an outside class(one in another module), yet overrides all of its behavior. This letsyou create objects that work the way you need them to but will pass isinstance() checks that are insisting on instances of the
How to defer things in Exim
Normally, Exim routers will only accept or fail addresses (or beuninterested in them). This is good enough for normal handlingof addresses, but if you are using routers to their full power , there are times when you want to force routers todefer addresses instead. There are two general ways to do this.
(Unsuccessful DNS lookups can cause addresses to defer, but thisis not normally under your control.)
The straightforward way is to use a separate router to explicitly deferthe address using the :defer

What a question! This sort of question made the student want to pull her hair out. Crestfallen, she asked the professor if the question really counted on their final grade. "Indeed it does!" he replied. "A good leader takes nothing for granted and recognizes the

Rupert Murdoch: No More Google News?
After reading a few articles mulling over the implications of Rupert Murdoch's purported move to pull out all News Corp content from Google News , I thought I'd share a few thoughts, especially since the 'pay wall' issue is something I deal with from day to day with a local news publication...
Online Ads - a Faltering Art
With the popularity of Google Ads and other similar ad networks, where impressions are free, and clicks cost money, it's no surprise companies are hard-pressed
(Ab)using Exim routers for their full power
Officially, as reflected in the documentation, Exim routers are expected to take more or less disjoint sets ofaddresses; for example, you have one router to do DNS lookups and SMTPfor external addresses, one router to handle aliases, one router toexpand the .forwards of people with them, and one router to deliver topeople's mailboxes for people without .forwards. This makes the orderingof the routers relatively unimportant; approached this way, it is usedmostly to make writing routers more convenient by having to
