Two civilians die in gunfight with military police near dam protest in northern Mexico - Reuters

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Two civilians were killed in a gunfight with Mexico’s National Guard militarized police force near a violent protest at a dam in northern Mexico that diverts water to the United States.

The National Guard said in a statement on Twitter on Wednesday it had been attacked by armed civilians on Tuesday night and “repelled the aggression.”

One civilian was killed on site and the other was injured in the clash and died later in hospital.

New COVID rules in England expected to last more than two or three weeks - Reuters

LONDON (Reuters) - New restrictions on social gatherings in England are unlikely to be over in just two or three weeks, the country’s Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty said on Wednesday.

He was speaking at a news conference with Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who announced a new “rule of six” limiting the number of people from separate households who can meet to six.

“That may not last for many months, but it’s very unlikely to be just over two or three weeks,” Whitty said

(Reuters) - Rene has strengthened again into a tropical storm near the Cape Verde Islands in the eastern Atlantic, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Tuesday.

Rene is located about 510 miles (815 km) west north-west of the Cape Verde Islands, packing maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour (65 km/h).
