John Ternus will become Apple's chief executive in September

Apple has named John Ternus as its new chief executive to replace Tim Cook who is stepping down after 15 years of leading the technology giant.

Ternus, currently the head of hardware engineering who has been at Apple for 25 years, will take over on 1 September and Cook will become executive chairman.

Cook has been chief executive of Apple since 2011 after co-founder Steve Jobs resigned for health reasons, shortly before his death.

The US will not lift its blockade on Iranian ports until a deal has been reached with Tehran, US President Donald Trump has said, amid continuing uncertainty over whether fresh talks to end the war will take place.

The blockade, which began a week ago, is "absolutely destroying Iran", Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, adding his country was winning the conflict "by a lot".

A woman and a child jumped from a rooftop to escape a mass shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, where authorities say a father fatally shot eight children, including seven of his own.

Officials said they were first alerted to the gun attack in an emergency phone call at 05:55CDT (11:55GMT) on Sunday. The caller reported they were "on top of the house" while the suspect remained inside.

What we know about the Iranian ship seized by the US

The US has intercepted an Iranian ship entering the Gulf as part of its naval blockade, US President Donald Trump has said.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that the ship was seized by the US Navy after failing to respond to a warning to stop.

Iran said it was a violation of the ceasefire and it would retaliate soon for an "act of armed piracy".

It's the first ship to be seized by the US since its blockade of Iranian ports began.

Blue Origin rocket grounded after satellite 'mishap'

Blue Origin's newest rocket has been grounded after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ordered an investigation into a "mishap" involving the failed launch of a satellite.

The company, founded by Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos, attempted to place a satellite from AST SpaceMobile using its New Glenn rocket but was unable to get it as far into orbit as intended.

Blue Origin's chief executive Dave Limp said the failure was caused by a lack of "sufficient thrust" in an engine.
