WILD RUMOR: Will Sony announce an updated 400mm f/2.8 lens in 2025

A source just told me that Sony plans to announce a new updated version of the current 400mm f/2.8 GM lens . Apparently the aim is to make it better than the competition like the Nikon 400mm 2.8 . The lens was announce back in 2018 so an update is certainly possible to happen in 2025.

If sources have more info about this (or any other product launch) please drop me a message using this contact box or at

Sony is slowly ending the IMX sensor lineup and rebranding existing products to Lytia series

Yogesh Brar spotted an interesting news! He writes:

Sony is slowly ending the IMX sensor lineup and rebranding existing products to Lytia series
Eg. IMX890 is now LYT701
IMX882 is LYT600
Expect Sony to completely shift to LYT lineup by 2026

DClife noted this:

If you look at the official Sony Semiconductor Solutions website , you will see that the brand page for the “LYTIA” mobile image sensor, which unleashes creativity, has already been launched.
