Homemade Dia scanner using the Sony

One member of the Xitek Forum made this construction to scan his old Dia photos. There are some advantages and disadvantages compared to using a classic EPSON970 scanner :

  • The center resolution is much higher on the Sony images.
  • The edge resolution is better on the Epson
  • The scanning speed with the Sony is about 10x faster compared to the Epson
  • Post production is much easier with the Sony images than on the dated Epson software+
  • Colors are much more vivid on the Sony scanned images.

Sony issued a new A7IV 1.11 firmware update ( Click here to download ).

Benefits and Improvements

WARNING! Make sure that there is only one BODYDATA.DAT file on the memory card. If you have used the card for a previous update, format the memory card in the camera before downloading a new file.

  • Improves the shutter reliability
  • Fixes an issue where the movie file rotated by the camera may not be rotated when displayed on a computer

The new Sony A9III will be tested at the FIFA World Cup?

A month ago I got hints that the A9III might be coming in early 2023. it’s only a hint, nothing solid yet. But small bread crumps of rumors keep coming in like this one I got this week:

A9 III will be lent to select photographers during the FIFA world cup and possibly during the Asian winter games.
