The Japanese magazine Diamond reports that Sony Group has proposed to acquire lens manufacturer Tamron. The acquisition price is expected to be around 200 billion yen.
I have no access to the full article but Sony’s potential motivation to fully acquire Tamron stems from a mix of supply-chain defense, shifting shareholder dynamics, and technological synergy.
