Sony patented a four “oblique pixel array system” high dynamic range sensor

Sony patented a new kind of sensor having four different pixels: Red, Blue, Green and the new Clean (or White) pixel. The pixels are ordered in an oblique array system. This allows Sony to reach a 20% higher transmittance which means you will get a Higher Dynamic range and a Higher ISO performance. Of course the downside is that you will need many more pixels on the sensor.
