Nikkei reports the following statement from Mr Terushi Shimizu:
“We expect that still images will exceed the image quality of single-lens reflex cameras within the next few years.”
This sounds a bit crazy, but I guess what he means is that with computational functions and multiple sensors smartphones can have some kind of advantages compared to mirrorless cameras. Still, I think this is greatly exaggerated as computational imaging has many drawbacks. What do you think?

We have been told that Canon is indeed going to release a full-frame RF mount camera with 100+ megapixels some time in the first half of 2023. The announcement could come later in 2022.
