Teen boy struck by vehicle in Malvern area

A teenage boy has been taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle in the Malvern area.
Toronto police were called to Neilson Road and McLevin Avenue just after 3:30 p.m.
The teen was taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle involved remained on the scene.
Delays are expected in the area.

Ottawa tightens rules for immigration consultants, as clients remain skeptical
Canada is overhauling the way immigration consultants are regulated, amid skepticism that the new rules taking effect today won’t do much to protect immigrants.

Scooter driver injured in crash with vehicle in Mississauga
A scooter driver has been rushed to hospital after a collision with a vehicle in Mississauga Wednesday afternoon.
Peel police say they were called to Cawthra Road and Queensway East just after 12:30 p.m. to reports of a crash.
The adult male scooter driver was transported to a local trauma centre in critical condition. His condition was later updated to non-life-threatening.
The other driver invovled remained on the scene.

Canada pauses applications for parent, grandparent sponsorship
OTTAWA — The federal government will not accept any new applications this year from people who want to sponsor their parents and grandparents to come to Canada as permanent residents under a program meant to promote family reunification.
The Immigration Department said the change is part of an effort to responsibly manage the system and reduce wait times.
In a statement posted online, the department said interest in the program continues to exceed the number of available spaces.
