TTC employees will no longer have to take random drug and alcohol tests starting Monday.
An arbitrator with the Ontario Labour Relations Board says the transit company’s testing policies are unjustifiable, unreasonable and unconstitutional.
Her report details how there is no scientific evidence to support that the testing enhances safety. She adds that the tests are unreliable.
For years the TTC was able to make employees swab their mouths or have them blow into a breathalyzer at any time.

Senior seriously injured after car crashes into Scarborough building
A senior was rushed to a hospital Monday afternoon following a serious collision in Scarborough.
Emergency crews were called to the Port Union area, near Lawrence Avenue East and Charlottetown Boulevard just before 4 p.m.
Toronto police say two vehicles were involved in the crash and one of them went into a building.
One driver – a woman in her 70s – was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. Another woman in her 40s was also brought to a hospital with minor injuries.

The victims killed in the Salsa on St. Clair shooting have been identified in an update by Toronto police Monday.
