Hamilton police investigating hate-motivated mischief targetting bus owned by Islamic School
Hamilton police say its Hate Crime Unit is investigating after a school bus was vandalized and tagged with anti-Muslim graffiti late last month. The bus is owned by the Waterdown Islamic School, and police believe the incident was hate-motivated.
It happened sometime between May 26 and May 31, 2026, when a suspect or suspects broke into the bus when it was parked at 499 Mohawk Road East in Hamilton.
Investigators say the suspect(s) discharged a fire extinguisher throughout the vehicle

Bike Share Toronto introduces weekly pass for FIFA World Cup
Bike Share Toronto has introduced a weekly pass for the duration of the FIFA World Cup.
The City Weekly Pass will provide seven days of unlimited 90-minute rides on the classic bikes for $40. E-bikes will be $1 to unlock plus 20 cents per minute.
It will be available to purchase from June 1 to July 19 — the last day of the World Cup. The weekly pass will also come with a curated guide to hotspots across Toronto close to Bike Share stations.

MONTREAL — Quebec RCMP say a 25-year-old man has been charged with assaulting an officer during an alleged migrant smuggling operation on Tuesday night.
Police say the patrol officer, part of a border enforcement team, was searching for five people who had crossed into Canada illegally when the alleged assault occurred near Noyan, Que., south of Montreal.
RCMP say the officer tried to intercept the migrants’ vehicle when the driver allegedly rammed the door of the police vehicle before fleeing the scene.

OTTAWA — Louise Arbour met with King Charles at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, days before she’s set to be formally appointed as his representative in Canada.
Arbour will be sworn in as Canada’s new governor general on Monday during a ceremony in Ottawa.
The retired Supreme Court of Canada justice will succeed Gov. Gen. Mary Simon, who has served in the role since 2021.
Praising her as a defender of human rights, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Arbour’s appointment last month.

Man, convicted of sexual assault with weapon, granted day parole in Ottawa
Ottawa police are warning the public that a dangerous offender who is serving a life sentence was granted day parole in the nation’s capital.
Christopher Roulston, 46, was released and is under strict curfew and conditions. He is considered a high-risk offender because he poses “a significant risk to public safety,” particularly women, “given his history of violent stranger sexual assaults and the high risk that he will re-offend or breach his conditions,” police said.
