Robinhood expands into Canada with acquisition of WonderFi
TORONTO — U.S. online trading platform Robinhood Markets Inc. has expanded into the Canadian market with the closing of its acquisition of cryptocurrency firm WonderFi.
WonderFi’s regulated crypto platforms, Bitbuy and Coinsquare, will become part of the Robinhood brand. Canadian customers will be invited to download the Robinhood trading app, the American company said Monday.
The two companies announced the deal worth $250 million just over a year ago.

Motorcyclist critically injured in Mississauga crash with vehicle
A male motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a collision involving another vehicle in Mississauga on Monday afternoon, Peel Regional Police say.
It happened at around 3:21 p.m. at Winston Churchill Blvd., and Eglinton Avenue.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene.
Police say the intersection is currently closed.

TTC bus crash sends at least 13 people to hospital
A bus crash in the Weston area sent more than a dozen people to a hospital Monday afternoon.
Police told CityNews that two TTC buses collided near Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue just before 3 p.m.
At least 13 people were transported to a hospital with minor injuries. Authorities say one of those patients is a 16-year-old.

Police make 5 more arrests connected to demonstration targetting Jewish community: Chief Demkiw
Vowing that the Toronto Police Service will be “relentless” in stamping out hate, Chief Myron Demkiw announced five additional arrests connected to a demonstration last March that targeted members of the Jewish community.
All five suspects face charges of wilful promotion of hatred and public incitement of hatred for either distributing or displaying antisemitic signs at the demonstration on March 15, in the Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West area, police said.
Three of the five (named below) also face charges of wearing a disguise with intent.

LeBlanc to meet Trump’s trade czar in Washington on Tuesday
WASHINGTON — Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc is set to travel to Washington on Tuesday to meet with his American counterpart as official negotiations between Ottawa and the Trump administration on a critical continental trade pact lag behind talks with Mexico.
LeBlanc’s spokesperson Gabriel Brunet said the minister will be joined by Chief Trade Negotiator Janice Charette for a meeting with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

A Toronto man has been charged in relation to a sexual assault investigation involving an 8-year-old girl.
Police were called to a retail store inside Woodside Square mall in the Finch Avenue East and McCowan Road area of Scarborough on May 12, shortly before 4 p.m.

Peel Regional Police investigators say a 28-year-old man wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing in Mississauga in May has been arrested.
Investigators say two men became involved in a physical altercation in a parking lot in the Agnes Street and Hurontario Street area, near Dundas Street East, just after 12 p.m. on May 19.
When police arrived, they found a man, who has since been identified as 32-year-old Chay Wilson of Mississauga, suffering from stab wounds.

York police seize $3.4M of illegal cannabis, 5 suspects charged
Five suspects are facing charges after York Regional Police investigators say they dismantled a drug selling operation — seizing $3.4 million worth of illegal cannabis and cannabis oil after executing search warrants at two Markham residences and a commercial unit in Toronto.
Project Eclipse began in May 2026, when investigators zeroed in on a suspect believed to be selling cannabis out of a Markham home.

Ontario is proposing to strengthen protections for students with medical conditions like diabetes and epilepsy to ensure they are safe while at school.
