In 2023, Regent Park had zero gun-related deaths which community leaders say is the result of the $2.5 million that has been invested over the last five years through the Regent Park Social Development Plan.

VANCOUVER — An American transgender woman says she plans to appeal a Federal Court ruling that overturned the decision granting her refugee status in Canada and sent it back for redetermination.

In a decision released this week, Federal Court Justice Christine Pallotta found the Immigration and Refugee Board’s appeal division made “reviewable errors” and an unreasonable decision to allow the application by Daria Bloodworth, who moved from Colorado to Canada in 2019.

Wisconsin Supreme Court agrees to hear governor’s lawsuit against GOP-controlled Legislature

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear against the Republican-controlled Legislature arguing that it is obstructing basic government functions.

The court’s liberal majority agreed to hear the case, with the three conservative justices dissenting. It set oral arguments for April 17.

The court only agreed to immediately hear one of the three issues Evers brought forward in the complaint. That issue relates to the Legislature’s Republican-controlled budget committee blocking funding for state conservation programs.

Massachusetts targets 26 commercial drivers in wake of bribery scandal

BOSTON (AP) — More than two dozen commercial drivers have had their licenses downgraded in the wake of involving State Police troopers allegedly taking bribes in exchange for passing test scores, the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles announced Friday.

The RMV said it identified 26 people who didn’t pass the test properly and changed them to Class D passenger licenses. The drivers, who were not named, will have to take and pass all the required permit and skills tests if they want to get commercial licenses.
