TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) — A man who fell through the ice on a frozen Michigan lake was rescued after a quick-thinking state police officer used the stranded man’s dog to get rescue equipment to him and pull the man to safety.

Bystanders called 911 on Thursday after the 65-year-old Traverse City man fell through ice-covered Arbutus Lake, state police said.

Moldovan man arrested in Croatia after rushing a van with migrants through Zagreb to escape police

ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) — The Moldovan driver of a van packed with migrants was arrested in Croatia following a chase in the capital, Zagreb, early on Friday, police said.

A police patrol tried to stop the van on the highway outside the city but the 31-year-old driver instead rushed through the pay toll ramp, said a statement.

Police urging more victims to come forward after construction business owner arrested in GTA fraud investigation

A Richmond Hill construction business owner is facing more than two dozen charges and police believe there are many victims who have yet to come forward in a fraud investigation in York Region.

In a Friday release, York Regional Police say officers with the financial crime unit started an investigation into a construction company in 2022.

The company, which investigators say operated as National Concrete Forming and Pars Concrete, would allegedly purchase concrete forms and construction materials using fake bank drafts.
