‘It’s a miracle’: Dog survives 60-foot fall at Elora Gorge
A search and rescue operation is being described as miraculous after a dog survived a 60-foot fall at the Elora Gorge Conservation Area.
“I felt my heart drop,” said owner Becky Popiolek, who recalled hearing her dog named Willow had gone missing last Wednesday.
Popiolek was camping at the conservation area with her family and was tubing when she heard Willow had escaped, despite having a leash and collar on.

Ottawa to ‘eliminate’ streamers’ CanCon payments, provide government funding instead
OTTAWA — The federal government will “eliminate” the financial contribution requirement for streamers set by the CRTC and replace it with government funding, it said in a court document.
“We are instructed to inform the court that the government’s intention is to eliminate the base contribution requirement on streaming services and to provide government funding to replace those contributions,” the attorney general’s office said in a document on July 17.
But the Canadian Association of Broadcasters said Wednesday it has heard a different message from government.

Yonge-College intersection partially closed until mid-August for TTC work
Motorists who normally drive through Yonge and College streets will have to navigate around a partial closure at the intersection due to TTC track replacement.
The closure went into effect at 6 a.m. on Wednesday and is expected to be in place until mid-August.
According to a City of Toronto release, vehicles won’t be able to travel northbound or southbound through the intersection but northbound right turns are permitted.
One eastbound lane will be open from Bay to Church streets, via College and Carlton streets.
