Watch this jetpack-wearing paramedic fly up a mountain
Forward-looking: We’ve been hearing about jet suits for a few years now, but their practical uses haven’t been too obvious—we’re still a long way off any weaponized versions being used by the military, thankfully. In the UK, though, the devices are being trialed in a new role: helping paramedics reach injured hikers in remote areas.
The suit is the work of Gravity Industries , a UK-based firm founded by Richard Browning. They do have a strong Iron Man vibe

AMD's 5000-series Zen 3 chip appears in database, could beat Intel's Core i9-10900K

Highly anticipated: We’re just over a week away from the highly anticipated Zen 3 announcement. As is so often the case in the run-up to product unveilings, leaks are hitting the internet thick and fast. The latest has two big reveals: The CPUs will use the 5000-series moniker, rather than the expected 4000-series; and there’s a Ryzen 7 5800X that could beat Intel’s flagship Core i9-109
Epic's arguments against Apple aren't sitting well with the judge

In brief: Epic took Apple to court, arguing that Apple uses its App Store in an anti-competitive manner. However, U.S. District Judge Yvonne Rogers doesn't seem phased by Epic's arguments.

64 new variants of 'Joker' malware have invaded Android app stores

In context: Malicious Android apps are nothing new, even on the supposedly well-curated Google Play Store. Indeed, just a couple of days ago, Google was forced to remove 17 Android apps that contained a malware family known as "Joker." Joker-laden apps masquerade as legitimate and may even provide useful functions to their users -- however, some time after the app has been downloaded onto a given device, its true, sinister goal is achieved.
In the case of the 17 apps mentioned
Israeli researchers developed a wearable that predicts epileptic seizures before they happen

In brief: Researchers at Ben-Gurion University in Negev, Israel, developed a device that can warn users of an oncoming epileptic seizure up to an hour in advance. The wearable tech uses AI detection algorithms to analyze electroencephalograms (EEG) in real-time. If indicative brain patterns are recognized, it sends an alert to the user's smartphone.
The technology, dubbed Epiness, can help sufferers prevent episodes by letting them know they should take medication before the seizure happens. Since as many as 30 percent
Bing and other smaller search providers win Google's latest Android choice screen auction

The big picture: Google's latest Android "choice screen" auction results saw Microsoft's Bing win in all the major markets in Europe, alongside three other search engines from small independent providers. But while it may look like the search giant has done the right thing after being fined $5 billion for anticompetitive behavior, some of its rivals think the auction is designed to prevent Google from bleeding market share.
Last year, Google promised it would soon let Android users choose an alternative search engine to govern their smartphones
Researchers present additional evidence to support claim of liquid water on Mars

Why it matters: The largest of the lakes is said to measure over 18 miles wide with each of the other lakes measuring only a few kilometers wide. The hope is that these subsurface lakes could harbor microbial life, but not everyone is convinced.
Researchers a couple of years back detected evidence of an underground saltwater lake near the south pole of Mars. Now, they’ve got additional evidence to support the discovery and more.
In July 2018, they cited radar data from the European Space Agency
EA Play comes to Game Pass Ultimate November 10th

In context: A few weeks ago, Microsoft announced that it was partnering with EA to bundle EA Play with Game Pass for Xbox and PC. At the time, the company didn't have a specific launch date, only saying it was coming this "holiday season."
On Tuesday, Microsoft unsurprisingly revealed that the EA Play/Game Pass package would become available on November 10, the launch day for the Xbox Series X and S. However, that release date only applies to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members
