Watch Lego Mario controlling digital Mario

WTF?! Playing games using accessories other than controllers has become a familiar sight; the Dark Souls series has been beaten using Guitar Hero Instruments, Donkey Kong bongos, and more. Now, a hacker has proved it’s possible to play Super Mario Bros.—on a Mac, no less—using a Lego model of the Italian plumber himself.

The work comes from @r1ckp (via The Verge ), who describes himself as a hardware hacker. He used a Mario minifigure from a Lego Super

Can You Build a Gaming PC for $500?

In a world where a decent graphics card can cost the same as a new cutting-edge console, you'd be forgiven for thinking that $500 just isn't enough money to buy a PC and play games on it. So, can it be done?

Scalpers are selling RTX 3080 cards on eBay for thousands of dollars, Nvidia taking action

A hot potato: While we were all worried about the coronavirus causing shortages of Nvidia’s RTX 3080, the real reason you can’t get your hands on one is old-fashioned greed. The card was sold out across all online stores and most physical stores in the US within minutes of going on sale yesterday, and it seems a lot of the blame can be placed on bots used by scalpers who are now selling them on eBay for massively inflated prices, something Nvidia says it’s

Quake soundtrack from Nine Inch Nails is now available on vinyl

Editor's take: Like Doom, Quake was among the early pioneers of the first-person shooter genre. And like its predecessor, Quake also had an awesome soundtrack that was penned by none other than Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails fame. Now, it's available for the first time since the game launched in 1996.

The soundtrack for Quake was written and performed entirely by Reznor. At the time, Trent Ward of GameStop described it in his review

Nvidia's RTX, DLSS, and Reflex technologies have arrived in Fortnite

In context: Fortnite has never been the most visually impressive or performance-intensive game on the market, and that's entirely intentional: to ensure the game is accessible to as many people as possible, Epic has kept the game's system requirements low for years. However, if you do happen to own a newer RTX card, your Fortnite experience might improve on all fronts today.

Now, Fortnite officially supports Nvidia's RTX, Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), and Reflex technologies. Fortnite'

Xbox Series S 'Quick Resume' trailer shows just how fast you can switch from game to game

On like Donkey Kong: The console war has moved into full swing now that Sony has laid its pricing and launch date cards on the table. From here out, it will be a marketing blitz between the rivals to show potential customers why they have the better system.

Today, Microsoft responded yesterday's PlayStation 5 price reveal by dropping a trailer showing off the "Quick Resume" feature on the Xbox Series S. Quick Resume allows players to move from one game to another in just a few seconds. The company

This portable CD player perfectly blends nostalgia with modern conveniences

Editor's take: NINM Lab last summer launched a successful Kickstarter campaign for a retro-minded portable cassette player packed with modern features such as Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. If it worked for fans of cassettes, might compact disc enthusiasts be interested in something similar?

As it turns out, the answer is, “yes.”

NINM Lab recently launched a new Kickstarter campaign for Long Time No See , a portable CD player for the modern era. Like the cassette player before it, the CD player features Bluetooth

Silicon Industry Association: $50 billion are needed to bring chip manufacturing to the US

In brief: American semiconductor giants are planning to build up to 19 manufacturing plants in the US, but they won't do it without substantial federal investment. What they're asking is that the US government spend at least half as much as China does for securing a larger share of global semiconductor manufacturing.

In July we took a deep dive into China's ambitious plan for technological self-sufficiency, which is largely motivated by the US-China trade war and the insistence on replacing all foreign hardware and

iRobot's latest Roomba makes automatic dust bin emptying more affordable

Bottom line: Robotic vacuum pioneer iRobot on Thursday added a new model to its lineup that borrows one key feature from the company’s more expensive cleaners. It is more affordable than earlier models but even still, $600 is a lot for a vacuum. The convenience afforded by no longer having to directly tend to the chore and only having to clean the dust bin a handful of times per year, however, will no doubt appeal to some.

The new Roomba i3+ features iRobot’s clever
